Childrens Bedroom Furniture

As with anything else that touches your childs life, you want to assure comfort, safety, and too, you want to be certain that it can hold up to the rigors of a childs play time, which necessarily includes jumping on the bed, even after you’ve told them several dozen times not to.

It doesn’t hurt if its also attractive as well as hardy and that the child approves of, is even excited by his room and the furnishings there, so that he or she enjoys spending time there and will want to keep it tidied up and neat so that it looks its best.

When selecting childrens furniture for the bedroom, safety is of course your first consideration.

While many people opt in for the metal tube variety while the child is still younger, toddler age.

I was never overly impressed by any aspect of it save its bright array of colors until my child reached about the age of six. Children run in their rooms and when they do, a fall against a metal tube is of course an easy way to injure a small child.

Wood is preferable, or the plastic tubed variety for smaller children, while metal is best reserved for an older child, who might also prefer the warm tones of wood, which can grow with them, and not need to be replaced so frequently.

Whether you select wood or plastic, run your hands over the finish, to make certain there are no rough spots, and that the finishe coats both inside and outside of the bed and dressers, as well as the back of the dresser or wardrobe, so that splinters are not something little fingers can find.

Try to assure that the corners are rounded, or that the bed itself is built with rounded sides as opposed to actual corners that may cause an injury.

Children don’t always sleep without movement and in fact, many of them will end up in a far different position than they fell asleep in.

Assure that you minimize the chance of an injury by trying to stay with rounded edges on the bed at least instead of the squared off edging.

Sit on the bed and check the mattress for comfort and support.

Children actually require better mattress support than adults do, as their bones are still forming. It isn’t uncommon for a small child to have aches and pains from a poor mattress on their bed.

Make sure that the slats, or the box springs, if those are part of the set, fit well so that they won’t misalign and drop the bed while its being slept on. I’ve actually seen this happen in less costly bedroom suites.

Safety and comfort should be the order of the day, and looks will run a close third to assure that your child has a room that leaves him sleeping peacefully.
