Choosing a Game System

Nearly every kid, and a lot of us who are young at heart, wants a game system. The hard part is choosing one that’s right for your family. The home video arcade is no longer just the domain of Frogger and Quix, games are plentiful, more complex, highly animated, and some even connect to the internet. With this complexity you also get some pretty hefty price tags, some going over 600 pounds.

Let’s look more closely at three popular systems. The Ninetndo Wii is highly interactive and includes a motion sensor. The sensor includes a speaker, which makes the action feel closer. Wiis come with free online services, a virtual consol for traditional games, its compatible with GameCube, and has a digital memory card. It doesn’t play DVDs, however, and the controllers require AAA batteries.

By comparison PlayStation three is also technologically advanced. It offers a wireless controller, motion sensor, Blu-ray Disk player, and high definition graphics. It plays PS2 games without trouble, and has memory card slots on some versions so each person can have their own card for saving games. This is a good choice for people with high definition TVs. Note that many people rate this systems graphics and sound as much better than XBox

Speaking of which, the XBox is also a system that benefits from high definition televisions graphically. It’s highly connective for the internet and serious gamers seem to love it. It will play standard DVDs, but needs a special attachment for HD-DVDs. Like the PS, it plays earlier Xbox games and has a very versatile console.

Overall the best way to decide may boil down to going together to various stores and test driving the system together. From there, rank your top three and choose according to what’s budget friendly.
