Leather Furniture
Why buy leather furniture?
Mostly because its long lasting. The only real way to kill a quality leather sofa or chair is honestly to drop it out of a second floor window.
Partly because its lovely, luxurious, it doesn’t cost all that much more than the normal soft lines furniture that you pay dearly for, and last, but certainly not least, because nothing says style like a leather sofa.
I was surprised really that it didn’t cost so much more than the fabric and upholstered varieties that I’d looked at and like.

Example of Modern style leather furnishings
Leather is easy to clean, and when you walk into the home, the scent of it has permeated the room. Nothing in the world says ‘style, class and decadence’ all in one smooth statement like leather furniture can.
To select a leather sofa, take a good walk around it.
Sit on it and check for comfort but more, while you are seated on it, make certain that the leather on the back, particularly the seamed areas, isn’t pulled so taut that it will tear.
One that we purchased was seamed up the back. It required being repaired twice in the first month, as it was seamed too tightly and when weight was put on it, the seams pulled apart. They are costly to repair and in the end, the company simply had to replace the sofa. It cost us nothing, but it wasn’t able to be replaced instantly, and we went with no couch for about two weeks.

Post modern style leather furniture
Pay attention to the seams, the legs and the front of the arms, to ascertain that the leather there hasn’t been dinged, scratched or torn in the moving process.
Check for gouges and tears when it comes into your home so that if it has been done prior to arriving in your house, you can arrange to have it taken care of by the company in the first few days after delivery.
With any good furniture you are going to want to have it treated with a water and stain repellent such as scotch guard (TM) to assure that it doesn’t carry stains from accidental spills . It will add a bit to the cost, usually about two hundred dollars, but what it will save you in headaches makes it so well worth the extra cost that you’ll be glad you did it.
Leather furniture is a great deal hardier than most fabric or upholstered styles, remains far sturdier than its fabric relative when it is used and well used, and as it ages, the tone and color will deepen, to a pleasing shade, not simply look dirty as many of the upholstered variety will do.
Leather sofas now come in so many styles and varieties. Where a few years past, there was traditional and very little more, they are not built in modern, post modern, retro, overstuffed, traditional and so many other styles that to match your lifestyle is going to be easy to accomplish.
When it comes to style, nothing beats leather..
