Buy a Porch Swing
A porch swing is not a necessity, but it is in fact a luxury that every home should have. It’s comfort, relaxation and a little down time at the end of the day.
Porch swings come in a wide array of materials, in multiple styles and are available in everything from beautiful woods, such as pine, cedar and mahogany, down to plastics and vinyls.
What you are looking for in a porch swing is as individual as you are.

Its not always necessarily longevity, how long the swing will last, although that’s quite important, as is quality, style and looks, but to me the most important aspect of a porch swing, or any seating is that it be comfortable and invite me to sit down and relax.
The wonderful feeling that you get from swinging a hot sultry evening away in the company of an old friend or a good book.
Choosing a swing for your porch is largely personal preference but there are a few things you can look for, and a few things that will guide you in choosing one, such a little knowledge about the materials that they can be made of and what kind of look and style you’re searching for.

I’d recommend that if you can, prior to your purchase of this piece of outdoor furniture that you take some extra time, spend it shopping around for a good price as well as a good value.. When selecting it be seated and swing a moment. Make sure that the swing fits you and feels comfortable, as well as being well made.
Cypress is one of the better woods, but will be costly, however it does have the added benefit of naturally repelling bugs, while oak or mahogany will be very long lasting.
Pine will be the softer wood, the least costly and probably the least long lasting, but I’ve had mine for upwards of 5 years. With the right care it will last a long time.
It wasn’t overly expensive, and it has the added benefit of being very light, so it’s easy to remove to set away for winter, or to take down in order to clean it.
It does have two things that recommend it to me. It has a straight back, which provides the most comfort of all the styles, but this particular swing has a hinged straight back that will allow it to be lowered to become something like a bed type furniture, so that if you would like to read a book lying on your stomach, the swing accommodates that want.
It is probably a good idea, if you choose to have them cushioned, to have it fitted with a weather proof cushion on both back and sides.
