It’s time to take the party outside. More and more people are using their lawns and patios as an extension of the home and in particular the dining room and family room. But when you go to find the perfect chairs for this arrangement the shear volume can be overwhelming.

Thankfully manufacturers are doing both without forgetting about comfort. Cushions feature very durable fabrics that no longer feel like burlap! Many seat cushions can be washed, and others have waterproofing for those inevitable unexpected bursts of weather.

Outdoor seating should be easy to move so that you can arrange and re-arrange the space as people come and go, and as the sun moves. This doesn’t mean you can’t have some fixed features, like a nice hammock, but it does mean that your entire assembly shouldn’t be huge, heavy pieces that require several helpers to maneuver.
Depending on the materials and costs involved, your patio furniture should have some type of warrantee. For example, if its treated wood and the wood warps, that should be covered for a set amount of time. Read over the instructions regarding care so that you don’t void the warrantee by improperly maintaining your set.
Finally, but not least, look for a style that really reflects your taste and the overall feel of your yard. This way the whole house and yard bear a sense of continuity that makes people naturally relax and feel welcome.
