Rice Cookers

The standing joke in some homes is that at least one person can’t boil water, meaning they also can’t make good rice! That’s where technology can come to the rescue, but as with all kitchen gadgets there’s lots more than one option from which to choose. Your job after that will be determining how much rice you need to make at a time, and how often you use rice in your diet. This will give you a feeling for how large a system you really need. These two features are really nice and don’t up the cost by too much. However, the warming model will not turn itself off automatically so you can end up with very dry, useless rice if you forget about it.

One step up from the non stick rice cooker comes one that can steam vegetables or other items, has a retractable cord for easy storage, features a dial to program the unit by type of rice (even sushi style), and comes with various kitchen implements designed for that unit. For people who do a lot of oriental cooking or who enjoy flexibility, this is a good option
