Buy a Fireplace Tool Set

Fireplace tools are not just for the maintenance of your fireplace and hearth, they are also a statement of your own personal style.
They can, just by being set there, put together a look for your fireplace that says exactly what you want it to say.
To select the tools you not only want to choose them according to style but also function.
You need to consider your style as well as how you plan to use the tools for your fireplace.

The parts of the fireplace tool set aren’t always something we can readily identify or even know what we’re supposed to be using them for.
So just what are all those things that come in the set?? The poker is fairly self explanatory, and whats its used for, of course, is poking.. You perhaps don’t know that the little curvethat shows up on the under edge of it can pull an errant log back into line quite nicely.
The shovel and broom will of course keep your grate and the hearth clean and clear of debris such as ash and coals, and will make your firebox safer because you keep it swept clean, while the tongs that come with the set will help you get that log thats currently on fire back into the right position.

The tool sets that you can purchase come in a wide variety of sizes so knowing for what and how often your’e going to use it is important when selecting one.
If you have a larger fireplace then select one with a larger shovel and bigger longer bristles on the broom so that you get more function from it, while if you have a smaller pot bellied type wood stove it won’t be necessary to have the large sized set as the smaller one will not only be more functional for you but will save you money in the overall purchase.

If you use your fireplace quite frequently you’re obviously going to want a set that is a bit more costly but studier and more able to stand up to frequent wear and tear, while a smaller one will work very well if you have a gas fireplace and just want to use the set for decoration.

John S. Adams, who is a tools for fireplaces distributor that is based in Iowa says that todays home owners want style in their fireplace tools, and primarily they want modern streamlined type tools.
“People want predominantly a four-tool set in black, brushed steel or pewter,” he says, adding customers are shying away from traditional brass. “They’ve totally moved away from polished brass. It’s not found as much in your home decor. Look at your cabinet hardware and all that stuff. Brass has totally gone away.”
