Circular Saws
The circular saw is one of the most common tools of the power tool variety that are available on th emarket today and also one of the ones that you will most need if you are a die hard do it yourselfer, and even if you’re not.
With todays circular saws, and of course the right blade attached tot hem you will be able to cut not only wood, but also steel, stone and ceramic tiles, and many more types of material.
Cordless saws are worth a great deal in confined spaces
You will most likely need a circular saw at some point in your life for some type of home duty, but buying one can be confusing, particularly if you’re new to the DIY set.
Circular saws are generally classed by the diameter of the blade.
They will range in size from 3 inches up to about 16 inches. The most common sizes you’re going to see, and those which you will most likely need are the 5 and 3/8, and the 7 and a quarter inch.
There are some other options available to you that will be based on your needs for the saw, that is to say what its going to be used for.
The most common question you should ask yourself is where and for what you’re going to use the saw.. thats going to determine largely what kind of saw you purchase, i.e. corded or cordless.
As a general rule cordless saws are far more convenient, can be used anywhere at all, but aren’t quite as powerful as those which attach to electrical power.
You will love a cordless saw, and the convenience of it when you’re working in places where dragging out a long extension cord isn’t easy or possible, but the batteries won’t always last when you’re working with tough materials.
The cordless saw will work best in a confined space, doing smaller, less difficult cutting jobs, such as wood and wood byproducts rather than steel or stone, which will make the battery run dead much faster.
while corded saws don’t have to be dependent on their batteries for power, will do better with cutting tough materials like masonry, or steel and a long bigger job in woodworking.
Lowe’s offers a reminder to everyone for safetys sake:
* Shaft Locks make it easier to change the saw blade. The shaft lock immobilizes the shaft and blade, making it much easier to change the blade.
